I would love to be your Fashion Design Course Representative in order to give you a voice which will be listened to and acted upon. My role would be to provide a link between yourselves and the University in order to make DMU an even better place to be at.
Firstly, I really enjoy taking on responsibility. I already work as a DMU Student Ambassador which has given me an insight into how things work here. I do my best to promote the University with student well-being at the core of what I do and say. Also, during my “A” Levels I took on the role of a “Yes She Can” representative which gave me valuable experience in liaising with both my peers and the teaching staff.
Being from two cultures myself, I truly relish the opportunity to interact with all the Fashion Design students at DMU, who are from such diverse backgrounds. I would like to listen to your concerns and suggestions, whether they be either personal or group issues, and to work with the department staff to contribute to positive changes in your overall learning experience.
One concern which has already come to my attention is that of excess materials and what to do with them at the end of each project. I would like to address this by creating a formal channel, within the department, in which to match offer and demand, thus saving you all time and money. I also think it is important to encourage students, within our department, to interact with one another to promote a support network where time, interests and knowledge can be shared and positivity enhanced.
