The ACADEMIC EXECUTIVE OFFICER is the person who can help resolve issues within your course and university department. My name is SHAAN BHAKER and I am campaigning to be your next academic executive officer. As a third year animation student I’ve experienced and acknowledged many issues over the last few years within the university that need to change.
WHAT DO I HOPE TO ACHIEVE AS YOUR ACADEMIC EXCUTIVE OFFICER?
If you choose me as your academic executive officer, I will focus on:
- Students having much better access to required course materials and equipment (cintiqs,styluses, sewing machines for example)
- Improving access to required software’s at home and university for free and making sure they are up to date in the relevant departments as well as the library.
- Improving the communication within the university, because the methods used are not very effective and result in students missing out on key information within the university and their course.
I believe it’s important to be able to do your coursework wherever you can besides the library and outside of university. Improving access to course materials and software’s will increase overall productivity amongst students, especially those with external commitments such as part-time jobs.
HOW HAS MY VOICE BEEN HEARD IN THE PAST?
- I have been a course rep for 3 years, so I’m very experienced liaising with tutors and higher up staff to discuss any issues students raised and provide solutions.
- I was a society chairman in my second year. I’m experienced with management and planning.
- I am currently a student ambassador. I have strong public speaking and communication skills.
