Ken is my name, I am delighted to represent my all students at DMU and beyond. I possess many attributes which I think will be of great importance to those that may see it befitting to utilise them within my personal and professional boundaries. I am a practicing Registered Nurse in Mental Health and Learning Disabilities. I have been practicing for 16 years in the UK in all spheres of practice. Being a nurse, takes compassion, patience, empathy and unconditional positive regard to everyone. I was an orphan, originally from Zimbabwe, a country I love, although with not much safety net for children in my predicament. I funded myself to move to the UK 20 years ago with just a suitcase and no contacts at all. But I am delighted with my journey to the point of being a landlord in the UK, a father a respected community member and still an active team player. Therefore, I relate with younger students as I walk the journey, mature students as I am mature, diverse- aren't we all diverse, international students as I was one, home students as I am one, and parents who balance parenthood and academics, like I do. Moreso, students with Mental illness and all forms of disabilities. I believe that not every disability is visible and that disability is not an inability. I could be of great service to all communities and surroundings at DMU if allowed to advocate for better change.
