The first wave of successful Course Reps – who will academically represent their fellow students – have been announced by De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU).

You can find out who the Course Rep for your course at De Montfort University (DMU) is on the page here.

Can’t find your course? There will be another chance to put your name forward to represent you and your course mates in a by-election in the coming months!

Samuel Hilton, Student Engagement Coordinator at DSU, said: “Course Reps are a key connection between the university staff that deliver every students’ education and the student body.

“Their job is to go out there and find out what students think and feed that back.

“In previous years, Course Reps have been elected or appointed differently on every course, but this year, after feedback from students, we decided that we wanted to formalise the process and identify areas of engagement to make sure it was a truly transparent and independent process.”

Course Reps are the vital link between students and their lecturers, and are responsible for letting academics know about the key issues that students face.

Hundreds of students voted for their next Course Rep alongside DSU’s biggest Elections ever, where DMU students chose the new Officer Team who will #LeadYourDSU in 2017/18.

Sam continued: “Course Reps also play a key role in the students’ union’s democratic structures at Councils and have contributed to Officer Team wins like course costs, exam scheduling and the library now being open 24/7.

“If you can’t find your course, there will be another opportunity to get involved.

“This is an exciting first step in the right direction but I would urge students to keep their eyes open for more opportunities to get involved.”
