Team GB aren’t the only ones with a big medal haul this year. We’re giving all of De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU)'s societies the chance to bag their own!

We know that all of our societies are pretty awesome. We felt the need to recognise the societies who go above and beyond the call of duty in doing that little bit extra to ensure that everybody has the best possible experience during their time at De Montfort University (DMU) – and that’s where our new society medals come in.

Ahtesham Mahmood, VP Student Activities, said: “I think it is really important for societies to be recognised for the amazing work they do and for that to be communicated with the new student population. It shows that we have such great societies.

“[Society medals] are a really good way to showcase the talent our groups have and the criteria really pushes them to push their personal development and in bringing about the best possible student experience.”

Societies can be awarded a gold, silver or bronze medal plus be recognised as a new society. Click here to see who's got what so far!

The bronzesilver and gold medals recognise groups that have followed the correct procedures, kept the Activities department informed of what they are doing, have run well-rounded events catering to as many different people as possible and worked together with other societies amongst many other achievements.

You can find a full breakdown of the criteria for each medal here.

Ahtesham continued: “Going forward I want to see the medal criteria really push student leadership and diverse groups to bring out the best student experience and to make societies even more inclusive. I will be working very closely with the Activities team on this.”
