We’ve moved!
Just over six months after moving out, we’ve completely transformed the Campus Centre into #YourNewDSU; a home for De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU) that everyone will love!
Our new home is open NOW after a massive £3million investment from De Montfort University (DMU) to turn the building into a fantastic hub for students to relax, socialise and make your student life exceptional, with a grand opening planned for Wednesday 25 January.
#YourNewDSU's new Officer Team, Voice and Activities office features windows that look out over the freshly landscaped DMU campus.
Dan Winney, President of DSU, said: “It’s fantastic to finally see our brand new home open to students.
“We may have had a six-month stay in The Art Factory, but this has been the culmination of years of work from many people, as well as officers before me.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved along the way as we now look ahead to what promises to be an extremely exciting 2017 for DSU.”
You’ll find a completely revamped reception desk on the ground floor, alongside our very own SUpplies shop, a convenience store, Starbucks coffee, an expanded Sulets shop and Subway.
The centrepiece of the ground floor is Milly Lane’s – our fresh place to eat and drink to cover all tastes. This will open for sampling sessions throughout January before it’s full launch at the grand opening. Read more here.
We also listened to what you wanted from #YourNewDSU, so alongside Milly Lane’s you’ll find a new Heat and Eat station where you can microwave food made at home in the first area of its kind on the DMU campus.
Once you’ve grabbed a bite to eat, head up to the first floor using our huge new centrepiece staircase (or the lift behind reception) and see how we’ve totally transformed the upstairs of the Campus Centre.
A huge new staircase has been installed to better link the ground and first floors of #YourNewDSU.
Your Officer Team have an increased presence in the new building, and now sit within the new Voice and Activities office on the first floor – pop in anytime to see how you can get more involved in sports clubs, societies, volunteering and Demon Media as well as having your voice heard at DMU.
Meanwhile, our Advice team now sit alongside DSU’s Senior Management Team and Marketing and Communications department in a brand new open-plan office on the first-floor.
The Advice reception can now be found at the top of the new staircase, with a suite of purpose-built appointment rooms available for our advisers to help you with virtually any welfare- or course-related query.
Our Advice team now have a brand new dedicated reception desk on the first floor.
On top of all that, there’s now more space than ever in our building, too, with the Chat, Relax, Unwind and Play chill out pods (with all important charging points for your phone) running down the centre of the building on the first floor.
Work is still underway on an exciting new day and night venue in place of Level 1, which is due to open in the next few months.
