Students from both DMU and UoL feature in the new 90-second video for the only lettings agency recommended by your students' union.
We’ve ducked behind the scenes of Sulets’ brand-new advert.
Students from both De Montfort University (DMU) and the University of Leicester (UoL) feature in the new 90-second video for the only lettings agency recommended by De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU), launched at the same time as their brand-new website.
Jess Gallagher is a third-year Law LLB student at DMU, and lives at The Summit. Her apartment served as the subject of part of the shoot.
“Filming the video was something brand new [for me],” she said. “It was so fun to be a part of.
“The day was fun and natural and really gave a sense of what it’s like to live with Sulets. Being involved with Sulets Extra and now being part of the video has been a really fun part of my uni life!”
The team also filmed separate videos with our Officer Team, including DP Education at DSU, Mollie Footitt, as well as scenes in Sulets' shop on the ground floor of the Campus Centre.
The video was filmed over several days during summer 2017, and features incredible drone footage of both university campuses, as well as a cameo appearance from VP Student Activities at DSU, Derrick Mensah.
Sulets offer student accommodation in both halls and private houses across the city, and real tenants – both past and present – were used to give the ad a feel of what living with the lettings agency is really like.
Hannah Crawford, who graduated from her Product Design MA in July, explained: “It was nice to be able to help promote a service that is so valuable to students, especially as I have first-hand experience of their hard work, having rented a house with them in my final year.
“It was also really interesting to see everything that goes on behind the scenes of a shoot.”

Hannah Curwen is a fellow DMU graduate, having completed her History and Politics course at DMU earlier this year.
“I was initially a little nervous when I volunteered to be in the video,” she said. “But as soon as I got there I started to really get along with all the other volunteers and the Sulets team really put us at ease.
“The whole experience was a lot of fun and I’m really glad I got to be a part of it. I did have a couple of embarrassing moments; when I didn’t jump from the bench with everyone else, and when I accidentally kicked the football into a neighbouring garden, but I really enjoyed the whole shoot.”
