Pole Fitness Society
DMU Pole Fitness is an ever-growing society offering classes for those interested in a unique fitness experience for all levels! Even if you don't want to do Pole Fitness classes, we offer socials every Wednesday and you can become a DMU Pole Fitness Social Member! DMU Pole Fitness was approved on the 22nd September 2014 and since then we've had hundreds of members! As a society we've had many amazing classes, socials, been on tour, taken part in charity events and so much more!
Pole Fitness is all about improving and building your core strength, co-ordination and confidence; all whilst having a lot of fun. The best thing about Pole Fitness is that at every level there are achievable targets providing motivation and regular incentives. It's great to make friends, to encourage each other and to get FIT! It works your core like a no other, builds both strength AND confidence and is for ALL shapes, sizes and abilities! No experience required to join!

Discounted Pole Classes!
DMU Pole Fitness partner up with Vertical Fitness Studio to provide our Pole Fitness classes. Vertical Fitness is a studio ran by Kerry Blunt who has over 10 years of Pole Fitness experience! She will guide you on your pole journey and support you to learn new skills!
All DMU Only class bookings are done through Kerry. These classes are open to DMU Students only. All other classes are open to DMU Students and students of Vertical Fitness, so if you have a friend that is not a DMU Student you can still go together. You can book on to these via Vertical Fitness Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/164880443655086/. Both pages will give you regular updates on availability. You can contact Kerry on 07961926172 or email vertical_fitness@yahoo.com to book on to a class.
If you book on to a class and cannot attend, please cancel NO LATER than 12:00pm on the day of the class so someone can go in your place, please be aware that if you do not cancel before this time, you may still be charged. It is important that you notify Kerry since the studio has a limited capacity!
Taster Sessions:
All Beginner classes, DMU Only and Mixed Ability classes can be used as taster sessions throughout the year. You book on via the process above. You can then gain a feel for it and see if you wish to continue. These are a great opportunity to 'try before you buy' in regards to purchasing the blocks or term packages - so please take full advantage.
Payment
All payment is currently done at the studio when you come to a class with either cash or card. All sessions bought by someone with a Pole Fitness student membership are at a discounted price in comparison to normal admission prices without one. If you enjoy Pole classes and wish to continue then you can pay for a block of 6 classes. Alternatively, you can also book termly for 12 classes. These cannot be carried over terms, so whichever term you buy them in, they must be used in that term.
All you will need to do is book on and bring your loyalty card to the session so Kerry and her team know that you have paid.
You do not need a DMU Pole Fitness Membership to come to a taster session. However, if you wish to continue you will need to purchase a membership off the DSU website: https://www.demontfortsu.com/soc/DMUPoleFitness/.
Annual Membership: £10
Our annual membership fee supports the funding of our events and activities throughout the year. Membership can be bought at any point in the year, and all memberships will expire at the end of the academic year. Once membership is paid you will get a set of vouchers from Kerry at classes which show you have paid and are eligible for the discounted prices.

Socials
Every Wednesday we go out with all the other DMU Societies on Social. This is a great way to make new friends with people from all societies and have a great time. For the first few weeks our committee will meet you all outside the Foodhall on campus between 7:15-7:35pm to take you to our social space which is Fatcats for 7:45pm! (Make sure to join our WhatsApp group for more information, especially to find out the themes for each week!). Once there, we play some games, socialise and have a fun until all other societies come and meet us there at 10pm!
If you come to socials regularly and have purchased your membership, you will also get an opportunity to get a Pole Fitness Bow (you will see these worn by committee members and old girls/boys each week and at other events such as freshers fair). You may also wish to buy Pole Society hoodies, and other items of clothing!
Wednesday's are always a great night out and definitely not to be missed. All the details about socials are posted weekly on our WhatsApp group, if you do not have WhatsApp then please email us or send us a DM on Instagram and a committee member will get in touch and give you all the details.
Don't feel pressured to join in with the drinking if you're not a big fan, we’re very inclusive and respect all members regardless!
Memberships
You can purchase your membership on this website for £10 for the entire year, the earlier this is bought the better as you will receive your DMU pole fitness membership so you can start getting discounted classes as soon as possible! This includes all your insurance, discounted pole classes, socials every Wednesday, varsity events, the opportunity to go on Tour, access to other events like stretch classes etc, and the chance to get involved with some charity events we run throughout the year. (By volunteering with us at these events you can log volunteering hours with DSU which will be printed on your HEAR once you have your degree, also it will also look great on your CV).
PLEASE NOTE - you can get involved with this society at any point in the year. NEVER think it is too late to join our society, everyone is very welcome!!! If you would like to join us but have many questions then feel free to email us at any point on dmupolefitness@gmail.com - We can then send you out our welcome email with a great deal of information regarding classes, socials, Tour and any other upcoming events we have planned.
