I am Jessica YOUR current Vice President Welfare and Community running to be YOUR next DSU President.
As YOUR VP Welfare and Community I have:
- Relaunched the ‘SSH clinic’ which, was out of action for 2 years.
- Held a Reclaim the Night march.
- Celebrated a number of cultural/diversity events and had the union celebrate its FIRST ever BLACK HISTORY MONTH
- Helped you stay safe on nights out.
- Created a Community Board so you can have your voices heard within Leicester City Council
and many other things!
You deserve to feel safe on campus.
You deserve to be happy.
You deserve to belong to a community.
and as YOUR President, I will make sure of that and more by:
lobbying for: OPEN ACCESS ON CAMPUS
- we have a lot of facilities on campus. Just because you’re a Business student, you should still be able to use the studios in Queens to follow your dream of being an artist.
Continuing to: CELEBRATE DIVERSITY
- Let’s celebrate Eid, Vaisakhi, Easter, Diwali ... and many more in our union bigger and better than we have before!
work towards: YOUR EMPLOYMENT
- Let’s make our students more employable (By facilitating events and workshops for soft skills and entrepreneurship). There is nothing worse than wondering ‘am I actually going to get a job after all this?’ (after working so hard)
We deserve to have our voices heard.
We deserve to be invested in.
We deserve a President who will LISTEN
