You may only know me as "that guy from mosh in the crazy shirts" but I am also a second year English student who wants to make a huge difference in the Student Union. I'm a Leicester local who knows the area well and knows exactly where to form connections and establish links with the city that will benefit the students of DMU and the local community. I am also a friendly and welcoming guy who would be perfect as a representative of the diverse and amazing DMU student body and would see it as an honour to represent them in the student union.

I am running as a candidate of change, who has had enough of the red tape and excessive bureaucracy of the student union. I wish for the Student Union to once again join the student body and help societies rather than hinder them. This can be achieved through allowing societies to handle their own finances. By enhancing the freedoms of societies many of them will be able to organize more events and make more of an impact on the university and the community. Why should the Student Union stop creativity?

I also advocate a change in the Student Unions policy on guest speakers as there is a lengthy procedure in place that requires a long period of notice for the Union to agree for any speaker to talk to the students. The Student Union is crushing free speech on campus and this needs to end. At DMU we pride ourselves with our diversity and our huge array of opinions, the Union cannot and shall not stop this. No voice should be silenced!

My final policy is to get DMU back to work by creating jobs in and around the university to enhance students' skills for jobs in the future, as many students are unable to get work due to a lack of experience. University should be the place for the students to GET this experience.  

A vote for Bennett is a vote for change, so vote for me for a more accountable and free Student Union where we encourage change and creativity rather than smother it.
