I am Basil Ali and I am running for Vice President Student Activities. I had been working for the Students’ Union at my undergraduate college, I was elected twice as VP and Secretary of Technical Student Association.

I have been in DMU since last year. As a DMU student, I never expected a perfect university life. We have 22,000 students either full time or part time.  I would say student involvement is just 5-10 percent. I have been thinking that why we can’t utilise our platform to get involved and to elaborate friendships circle, thereby to learn different cultures. Here we have  plenty of student societies that are not well coordinated.

So my intention is to involve students by coordinating every society and arranging such  good events, also by conducting sports matches with different departments. Students have to get a competitive mind and thereby they will actively become involved.

I wanted to involve DMU students in different societies and all programmes. Also I wanted to rice voice of RAG for the student needs. Also my intention is to conduct more programmes in sports, arts and some kind of technical programmes and to make proud for De Montfort University.
