In December 2024, De Montfort University gave the green light (and funding approval) for a brand-new project led by your Students’ Union – The DSU Pantry.
So, what is it? The DSU Pantry is a sustainable initiative designed to offer free essential food items to students who need them most. It’s all about easing financial pressure, and making sure everyone at DMU has access to the basics.
Since early 2025, the DSU team has been hard at work planning how the pantry will operate and they’ve officially included it in their annual funding request to the university. A decision on that funding is expected by mid-May, so watch this space!
Once the final funding is confirmed, the DSU Advice team will take the reins to get everything up and running, with the aim of launching the pantry in time for the new academic year.
